MT. TAHAN DAY 6 (25/2/2007) PHOTOS

The last 5 km of the journey was a torturing one. I could not walk fast due to the effect of twisting my ankle 2 days ago when coming down from Kem Pangkin to Teku. Walked like a handicapped person. Last day at National Park, Kuala Tahan. Goodbye to Mt. Tahan with sweet memories. Hope to hike again the next time from Kuala Tahan.

MT. TAHAN DAY 5 (24/2/2007) PHOTOS

Quite a moderate day hike. From Puteh, we hiked Gunung Rajah (hot and infested with bees). Later we reached Kem Tengah. From Kem Tengah we continued to Kem Melantai.

Before Melantai, there is a detour from the main trail whereby you can see Rafflesia. I did not go as I was tired and all I wanted was to rest. Reached Kem Melantai around 4 p.m. Still got 3 more hrs to reach Kuala Tahan but we decided to relax and overnite at Kem Melantai.

MT. TAHAN DAY 4 (23/2/2007) PHOTOS

Quite a relaxing day today as coming down from Kem Pangkin all the way to Teku. Passed by Wray camp. It took 4 hrs+ from Kem Pangkin but I twisted my ankle halfway coming down. Quite painful but the pain was relieved by painkiller from another group of hikers.

At Teku we took bath at the river as we had not been bathing for almost 2 days.

After Teku, the journey continued into by crossing Teku river 7 or 8 times to reach Kem Puteh. We reached Kem Puteh around 7 p.m. at night.

MT. TAHAN DAY 3 (22/2/2007) PHOTOS

Quite a challenging day. Depart from summit around 10 a.m. Arrived at Pangkin campsite around 7 p.m. Passed by Gunung Gedong, Gunung Reskit, Gunung Tangga Lima Belas, Gunung Pangkin before reaching Kem Pangkin for overnite. Campsite at Pangkin quite small. Got to sleep on the walkway. Sleeping at night also not comfortable as I was worried about rats.

MT. TAHAN DAY 2 (21/2/2007) PHOTOS

Second day was the most challenging day for the hike. Had to wake up early and start hiking at around 8.20 a.m. Passed through campsite such as Permatang, Kubang, Belumut, Bonsai, Botak before reaching the summit.

Reached Botak at around 6.20 p.m. Had our dinner at Botak before reaching the summit.

Reached the summit before 9 p.m. Camped at the summit before continuing the next day journey. Chit chat with some Anakhutan members at the summit before zzzzzz......

MT. TAHAN PHOTO (DAY 1) - 20/2/2007

Travelled all the way from Bukit Jelutong in Shah Alam to Merapoh on 19/2/2007. Journey started at around 7 p.m. Stopped at Batu Caves for dinner before continuing the journey in the van with 9 hikers to Merapoh via Karak highway. Arrived at Merapoh past around 0030 hrs on 20/2/2007.

Met Anakhutan members hiking. First day was fine. Took 4WD from Park HQ to Kuala Juram and then hike to Kem Kor within 4 to 5 hrs.

Overnite at Kem Kor.
