MT. YONG BELAR TRAIL PROFILE
The last time I hiked this mountain was in May 2008 in 2 days 1 night via Kem Kasut. We used Lojing Highlands route to Kem Tudung Periuk and Kem Kasut and to summit. Next day we descended to starting point via the same route.
Before reaching Lojing Highlands, we (4 of us) discovered a short cut at the confusing area when we were lost / seperated from the main group (7 hikers) for 1 hour. We just followed the pipes along the river (Sg. Telum). This led us back to the junction for the trail to Mt. Charlie. The water level was shallow at Sg. Telum. Noticed that the trail along the river side was a short cut thus saving us 1 hour (i.e. no need to hike via Lojing Highlands trail).
Few weeks later, received a call from a contact based in Penang stating that the trail along the river with pipes can be dangerous if the water level was deep and rising due to rain water.
The trail map is extracted from http://danielbmw.wordpress.com/tag/yong-belar/
. This trail was mapped from the hike via Sg. Telum along the pipes area.
